An online orientation-workshop on Republic Act 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act and consultation with Local Government Units (LGU) – Stakeholders on the Local Energy Plan (LEP) Formulation were conducted last June 30, 2023.
The virtual gathering was organized by the Provincial Government of Batangas, through the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), in partnership with the Energy Secure Philippines (ESP) Activity of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Philippine League of Local Environment and Natural Resources Officers, Inc. and the Department of Energy.
The activity aimed to provide an overview of the Philippines’ goals, programs, policies and mechanisms on energy, and the roles of the LGUs in achieving these goals and implementing these policies.
It was also an avenue to discuss the LEP and the institutional mechanisms that support its formulation, and identify potential sources of energy data requirements that will form part of its drafting.
As per the PPDO, which acts as secretariat of the Technical Working Group for the Formulation and Development of Provincial Energy Policies, Plans and Programs, among those who participated in the meeting were representatives from the LGUs of Balayan, Balete, Bauan, Calatagan, Sto. Tomas City, Cuenca, Ibaan, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa City, Lobo, Mabini, MataasnaKahoy, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Juan, San Luis, San Pascual, Taal, Tanauan City, San jose and Sta. Teresita.
