Medical Gripe vs. Gov. Vi, All Lies
March 4, 2010

“Demolition job against Gov. Vilma Santos Recto.”

This is what Provincial Human Resource Management head Meynard Melo said in response to recent articles about alleged “health workers’ gripe over...unpaid salaries and allowances, ..acute shortage of medicines” and the governor’s failure to visit (district) hospitals to assess their conditions.

Melo, who was quoted in the said press releases, expressed surprise over his supposed statements as, he said, he was never interviewed by anyone about these issues.

Doctors, nurses and other health workers also expressed dismay and shock at the malicious report, adding that Santos Recto has made a number of rounds of the various district hospitals in the province to check on their medical staff and patients, and look over their over-all situation and operations.
Presently, 8 of the government hospitals in Batangas have been renovated or have buildings under construction.  9 brand-new, fully-equipped ambulances are already in use.  New and better hospital equipment have likewise been installed and already in use.

“It’s sad how people manipulate facts to serve selfish personal and political ends,” concluded the government medical practitioners.  “The governor’s doubters are all welcome to visit us to see for themselves the great improvements in our hospitals, which were all done in only Gov. Vi’s first term in office.”    - Vince Altar
